Working and reading.

So, yesterday, for New Year's Day, we made lots of yummy food, and got together with two other families to eat and visit. It was fun! Today, I somewhat cleaned my part of my room, and worked for my dad about 4.5 hours washing onions, cilantro, radishes, and lettuce. Tomorrow we are getting up really early in the morning to go to the farmers markets in Austin. This will be the first time we go for the fall/winter season. I am looking forward to seeing some of my different friends who are vendors there, and eating some good tacos from Mr. Sam at Tacodeli. I hope he is still there. Tacodeli makes just about the best salsa in the whole of the world I think! Today, I have been reading some more of "Don't Waste Your Life." by John Piper. I found a quote today in that book, that is encouraging and challenging. Here it is:

" You don't need to know a lot of things for your life to make a lasting difference in the world. But you do have to know the few great things that matter, perhaps just one, and then be willing to live for them and die for them. The people that make a durable difference in the world are not the people who have mastered many things, but have been mastered by one great thing. If you want your life to count, if you want the ripple effect of the pebbles you drop to become waves that reach the ends of the earth and roll on into eternity, you don't need to have a high IQ. You don't have to have good looks or riches or come from a fine family or a fine school. Instead you have to know a few great, majestic, unchanging, obvious, simple, glorious things-or one great all-embracing thing - and be set on fire by them."
